Secure postal mailbox needed - There is mail theft on my st

They definitely will not. After our box was hit twice, I re-installed the third one a bit farther back from the curb. Within a week, I'd received notice that the box was out of compliance (by 2 inches) and mail delivery would cease within a week if it wasn't relocated. In fairness to USPS' fastidiousness, I did know it was outside guidelines, and decided to risk it...which did not pan out.

Some helpful links:

In other words, building your own box may be way more trouble than it's worth. FWIW, according to USPS guidelines, mailbox mounts should be breakaway. The brick surround may violate this caveat.

We used a mailbox very similar to the one at http://steelmailbox.com/html/country_estate.html along a country road where snowplows and drunks took out pretty much everything else. Plate steel, more or less. You could get the locking insert for it, possibly even have a welder install it so it doesn't come out no matter what. You could also attach a lock to it and cut a slot in the front for incoming mail (talk to your carrier to make sure it's ok first).

You can buy a mailbox alarm system that will notify you if your box has been opened. They go for like 20$ on amazon

If people want to know for sure if they are missing mail, there is this service available in some areas:

The post office emails you scans of the letters and packages you are supposed to recieve.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Since your first post had a link to a commercial website, I went ahead and removed the link.
Don't worry, nothing bad happened, I just prefer to be on the safe side.

I use that service, but it rarely shows everything that ends up in the mailbox.

My mailman is a dummy,
I'm always getting other folks mail in my box and they are always addressed correctly
In fact back when I was a gun dealer, one time he left an Uzi right outside my door--I did rat him out for that
