Best A K/W vs. I-Core Tensioner

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Best A K/W vs. I-Core Tensioner

Postby mseifert » 30 Aug 2016 20:38

I have had no luck trying to pick to control with the above mentioned tensioner.. I have been able to pick to operate several times.. And let me tell you picking to operate instead of control is a bit of a let down ... :( :( :( :(

I find the tool a little difficult to keep engaged with the hole in the bottom of the core.. Guess I will need to do some more research and continue with the practice ..

Any advice from my fellow pickers..
When I finally leave this world.. Will someone please tell my wife what I have REALLY spent on locks ...

If the BOK area is too wide for the tensioner, I'll try cutting a small piece of cardstock & slide it in alongside the tension tool.

I usually just cut a small piece of spring steel to use for a shim

I find that shaved down match sticks work to hold the torsion wrench in place. Make sure that the nubs of the tensioner are jammed into the holes in the bottom, or you will be unsuccessful. Another thing to note is that the core may not have been removed in a long time, and the control shear may be seized up - I had one old lock where I was sure I had it picked, and I had to reef on it with a slot screwdriver to get it to turn.
