Also if the pick is made by Souber, you WILL need to remove some off the end of the lever lifter and bolt thrower for most (or lots of) locks.
You really do need a few 2 in 1s.

I agree about the courses 3 days aint enough but ,although i dont know them, the one pinky runs sounds like its the best place to start. The best way to get anywhere near good is out on the job.I dont profess to be an expert, after nearly 20 yrs i still come across stuff that vexes me and im sure even the likes of pinky will agree with that, thats why i think forums like these are great because if you have aproblem you can ask and more often than not you get the help you need

have you just finished it or was it a while ago? have you got any ads in place? and if so how are you doing? ... after my first course it took a while before i could leave my job.
the reason i asked about what it covered was that it seems most courses only taech drilling BS locks when there are ways to pick them, keep an eye out for pinky's posts ... he also does acourse (one of the only ones) that teaches the proper picking for these.

finished my course in april. was a tree surgeon until i knackerd my spine in car accident so picked the next most interesting career that doesnt involve lifting heavy objects. had a shop but let it go to many overheads and boring. advertise in BT phone book , cheeper and less locksmiths than yp. am sort of shying off work untill i get more practice. always like to be professional in whatever i do.

acl is right, we all get that swine of a lock, and as soon as you crack it, those clever little designers add a twist to a new batch and you start all over again.
its a bit like a good crossword puzzle, you battle your wits against the writer, in our case our wits against the designer.
we all have our nemesis, mines gege locks, bloody hate them, il open any mortice and most safes happily, but bloody gege euros and me dont get on.
im no lock god, i just invested in tools and locks, and dedicated hours to practice to perfect my opening of bs locks.
sadly no 3 day course can prepare you, a good course will give you the methods to pick all locks including bs, how you develop these methods is down to you, its not a natural talent you need, just hours of practice and logical thought.
to think you can do a 3 day course and be a locksmith is foolhardy, you are at the begining only, its a journey that never ends, you always learn you must always keep up with change, and no matter how good you get there are many better.
