Hi all!
I just started picking locks about a month ago and really enjoy this new hobby of mine.
And I would like your opinion on what you think is the best way to practice picking locks.
I have read many places that people recommend practice on one lock at the time till you can pick it in your sleep. Memorize the binding order of the pins
and tension so you can pick it in seconds. But this wil only teach you to pick that one lock and not how to open all locks.
I have taken another approach and switch lock when I have picked one open, (I own 14 padlocks)
And I don't memorize the binding order for each lock.
In my head this wil make me better at picking a new unknown lock as I constantly have to adjust tension and find the binding order of the pins.
If I pick the same lock the whole day I can do it faster and faster every time, but if I don't pick that lock for a couple of days I still have to use a lot of time finding the right amount of tension for that particular lock.
So my thought is that my approach will teach me to pick a unknown lock much faster in the long run.
What do you guys think? Am I on to something or are I just making it harder for me to learn the art of lock picking?
