ltdbjd wrote:You raise a good point. When it comes to lock pick sets, "bigger" tends to mean "more of the same." Meaning a 32 piece set typically just has two of the same tools the 16 piece set has. The 64 piece set triple the 16 piece. If you look at the catalog pictures, sellers try to mask that fact by putting the picks in different locations or flip it over to show a mirror image in the pouch.

In this particular case, by bigger set, I meant the 14 piece set the OP mentioned vs the 5 piece he/she was thinking about. The 14 piece gives you a couple different hooks, rakes and tension tools.

Didn't realize you were speaking of a 14ish piece set.. I would agree then .. Bigger than 5 pieces is a better option.
When I finally leave this world.. Will someone please tell my wife what I have REALLY spent on locks ...

I have about 4 picks that I use regularly. Most are the less expensive materials from Peterson. I make my own tension wrenches from wiper blade metal strips. I even make TOK from wiper blade strips. You dont have to spend a lot of money to pick locks.

I've decided to go with the 14pc set and use the forums / online as my learning resources; I've also ordered the suggested key that we linked.

Thanks for all the advice, and I will let you guys know if the key ends up working or not.
