american 1100 no longer opens with key

hi guys, I've only been picking for a couple of months now. Anyway I wanted to practice serrated pins so I bough a new American a1100 padlock from ebay. I spent hours trying to pick this lock without any success. Anyway I tried to open it with the key and it no longer opens at all. I think maybe one the pins got stuck. I tried jiggling the hasp and raking the pins but the key just won't turn any more. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I tried using the search function and couldn't find this topic anywhere. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Pins can get hung up; one way to check is to take the back side of a half diamond and depress all pins at once, then withdraw slowly. You should hear an audible click as each pin drops.

If you do have a stuck pin, try lubricating and gently raking. If it's still stuck, I have resorted to striking with a rubber/leather mallet with good success.

thanks after reading through dozens of posts I did read something about banging it with the key in it. At first it didn't work. But I just tried again and hit it much harder and it did work. now I just have to figure out how to pick this guy. thanks again.
