"open" safe. Troubleshooting and need help

Postby Riceb479 » 22 Nov 2016 19:53

I got an old safe from my job that they were getting rid of. The door is open and nobody knows the combination. I followed the post here: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=57366

The problem I'm having is the third number out of 4 keeps changing. The first two are consistently the same along with the last that grabs the bolt.

I can hold the disc with a pick and turn the dial freely, the first two you cannot hold still while turning the dial.

It seems like the disc is stripped out. ??
Thanks for the help I've already received and any future.
Let me know if this doesn't make sense.

Without photos I have to make some assumptions but it sounds like your 3rd wheel which Im assuming is closest to you when you remove the back cover has a change key hole that is in the open position, look at Gwiens2001's post https://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopi ... 36&t=62460 to identify if the little black square hole on your safe wheel needs to get turned 90 degrees to lock the wheel to the hub.

That sounds very possible. I made a key, maybe I screwed that up.

That was my problem. I removed the last disc and figured out that it works the opposite of how it "feels" like it should.
In my brain at least.

I got the combo. Thanks for the help.
