I was wondering if it was possible to rake a security pin? I have been searching the site for possible answers but have only found discussions on single pin picking these. The way that I know it has a security pin is by raking I can get the cylinder to turn a few degrees. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it is possible. There has been some decent hype on this site about the "bogota pick" that was developed by one of our own members raimundo. There's plans on here some where if you search for it. The bogota pick seems to rake security pins particularly well.

I find that learning to single pin pick security pins is of more use in the long run though. Completely immerse yourself in it, and you'll eventually learn.

Im pretty good at raking security pins, that (raking) was the first method of lockpicking i learned when i first started out a few years ago. At that time i was only about 15 or 16 and i only wanted to get the locks open, but after about 6 months i wanted to actually learn to "pick" the locks, so i started using the hooks and pin by pin picking :D

You picked the right time to post this post because i just purchased a brink lock today and have picked it a few times. As you know the brinks 2 inch padlock has 2 spools, 1 at the 4th pin and 1 at the 2nd pin. I have tried raking this lock a few times and have had no luck. You would probably be better off if you single picked the pins with a short hook. This lock has very good feedback so you will know when a pin set. Also remember to use light tension. Also, just incase you don't know how to deal with spools, you will want to slightly release tension when you hit a spool then push the pin up a little further.

Good luck! :D
