OK, got it. I think the post box at Port Stanley is perhaps just for show then.

Nothing is for show out here unless it's military, so I expect it is in use. I'll ask when I'm in Stanley again.

A pleasant afternoon spent learning how to make overlifters for my front door, picking the levers is next on the agenda.

I suggest you don't pick locks in use. Get a practice lock and play with it.

Cheers

If I break the lock it gets replaced anyway. Also, it doesn't really provide any security here. If it was my own house in the UK, I wouldn't touch it.

Well, I'm not swimming to the Falklands to prevent you from picking a lock you shouldn't touch. I hope you understand why I suggest you don't pick it.

Good luck

I swam in the South Atlantic earlier in the year and it's cold. I do get the point but if I looked at the door from the right angle it would fall off its hinges anyway.

If you got my point, I'm fine. If you get locked out or are no longer able to lock the door, I warned you.
I hope it doesn't happen.

Cheers :)

ratlock wrote:Get a key off ebay for post box ( any key) take it to chubb lock lowest key height, and make a curtain pick out of the key. Learn to make wires, and pick lever locks. Hope the attached pic helps. Ps this key throws(opens)clockwise. Cut opposite of whats shown for lock mounted, or door hinged to throw (open) anti clockwise. It looks like your door is hinged on the left, lock to the right on the door. So you would cut your key on the opposite side to whats shown on my picture.

Hi

I'm in the same situation I have a box (cemented into a gate post) which is locked and the guy doing the work does not have any idea where the keys are. The box is a "new" old style one so no concerns about being a genuine Royal Mail one. Can I just drill the lock to get it open. I'm told a new lock is only about £12 so not working about the lock I just need it opened now to get some letters and a new lock on. Any help qould be appreciate as never picked a lock before
