I just dug the dremel out. Ill give that a shot. I may try that chemical idea too. Not 100% yet. Chemical i was hoping would be like taking off knife coatings.

As these style of inserts are uncommon, they are quite useful. I use them for pry bars & tubular tension wrench that is so similar to a regular pry bar.

As far as picks go...
Only styles are warded padlock pass keys / picks
&
The dbl. sided wafer lock picks.

Also, the coated style that has a split down the center, makes a nice c-clip removal tool. (For the spring metal, not the flexible crimp on style clip)
