Abus Everest keyway core doesn't have an Everest check pin

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Re: Abus is deceptive as hell

*EDIT* I typed this before femurat's and mh's replies

Did you buy the cylinder and that key direct from Abus or from an online shop that sells all manner of locks and parts? Some sellers just dont do a good job with descriptions or arent well versed in every nuance that a real locksmith or hardcore locksport hobbyist would immediately pick up on.

I know where femurat is coming from, the title does make it sound like Abus did this on purpose to trick you into buying a different model cylinder, it seems more like a mix up or the seller not veryfying exactly what you were expecting to get or the seller thinking that it was normal Everest check pin cylinder.

If you can share with us the link where you bought it we can see if its a mistake or intentional misleading just to sell off some old stock or something. Im inclined to edit the title as well but lets see where you bought this thing.

Thank you

He said he got it from a hardware store. So who knows. I don't know of any hardware stores that sell Everest in my area.

Ya just a local builder supply. Thats actually why i was so excited. No hardware store ive seen carry locks like that. Its all usually master. I saw Everest and freaked lol. I understand how things typed may read to me one way, and others different. I gotta work on wording in a forum setting, newer to that setting.

Edit. Its also wasnt just seeing the key. They actually listed Everest on sticker. Which i see now is Everest keyway, just not full on Everest cylinder. They should label different. It looks like you getting something else. Dont know how to change title, but thought you would get a kick out of that

GMS makes mortise/rim cylinders in Everest and Assa keyways but I think they state that it's keyway only, no sidebar/check pin provisions.

I posted that on the last page Jeff.

Out of all the ABUS with Everest core padlocks I have sold (about 200) none came with a key and were all zero bitted (and as notated, no check pin)
Unusual for a regular hardware store to sell a ABUS, much less with a Everest key. They must focus on locks more than the average places or special ordered them for someone already keyed and had some left over

So, based on that, I changed the title to "Abus Everest keyway core doesn't have an Everest check pin".

Cheers
