Like the subject says I am just finding my way into the locksport game and need help finding some materials. I was fortunate enough to talk to someone around where I live and get a small bucket of locks cheap and in there was an empty Assa mortise body with core. I have been all over the net looking for all the components to make this whole again and can't find them for an Assa twin 6000 with a 51 key. Any help with locating parts to make this whole again would be great so I can work on sidebars.

Hello and welcome, not at all sure why you posted in The Open Source Lock design area....
Check securitysnobs.com for used ASSA Twin 6000 locks which I seem to remember used the 51 keyway. Ebay is another good bet and I may have some as well.
What exact parts do you need? Pins, springs, sidebar, keys?

I am looking for a pinning kit with the sidebars and sidebar pins, along with a few keys. I have the lock body and core and that is all.

You certainly sound like a glutton for punishment, that pin kit cost me a bundle from my distributor sometimes they come up on E-bay, you gotta be careful though, many pin kits on e-bay come pre- shaken and if you look, you can see the pins are all mixed up. Someone on here would be happy to re-assemble your lock and sell you keys

I'm pretty sure that eBay or online swap meets will be your only means of acquiring the parts that you seek. ASSA parts are not available new to the public.
Maybe somebody on this forum has a pin kit they would be willing to part with...
EDIT: I see that billdeserthills beat me to the punch.

So where would the best place to go, or best person to talk to, to get the "guts" for at least pin it to use the lock; cut key, all pins and the sidebar? I have been all over ebay and many other sites looking and can't even hardly find the locks assembled. Any leads to find parts would be great.

You're already talking to him. But I have many questions first so I can better help you. How/why do you want to start learning lock picking on an Assa Twin 6000, that's the kind of lock hobby pickers tackle after 2 years of learning. Also the 51 key profile is so very specific they have dozens of keyway profiles I may or may not have it.and its the kind of thing you most likely never find, it will honestly be easier to just scrap your parts and buy a cylinder with keys for $20.bucks from securitysnobs.com where he has a bunch of used ASSA cylinders for sale. can we see photos of what parts you have so I can check if I have what you need? Thanks, Squelchtone

Hard to beat security snobs for 20bux with a key. Good deals on medeco too. Gonna spend more shipping back and forth, then just buying lock

It was one I got for a good price and I have been picking for about a year. I can't upload pictures for some reason, so I will try to pm them to you if needed billdeserthills. I might not be able to upload pictures but this is what I have, https://securitysnobs.com/ASSA-Twin-Mor ... -Used.html.

I have ASSA bottom pins and drivers. I have a few sidebars with pins but not for that cylinder. To get sidebar and pins plus springs for that cylinder will cost as much as 3 cylinders from security snobs. I may have a cut 51 key but no side bar. I also can provide bottom pins and drivers for that key, if I have one. But it will still cost more than the whole cylinder with keys from security snobs. Personally, I would get 1 or 2 cylinders from them and practice repinning yours and then back and forth.
If you want just bottom pins and drivers, I have some mini pinning kits od ASSA pins. Bottom pins # 2, 4, 6 ,and 8. Plus all 4 lengths of drivers. And some commercial springs as well as some commercial spools and serrated pins. I am going to list on Ebay for $25. Sorry for the plug. But if you would like one of the kits, I'll send you one for free if you donate the $25 to the forum. I'll post some pics shortly.

oh shucks, you're not newish to this.. a year is a long time to practice. who knows you may be ready to tackle the ASSA! that little kit Jimu57 made is awesome! I have a feeling you need the sidebar pins and mini springs as well though? once a side bar is gone, they like to shoot out and get lost. It still may be better at this point to abandon ship and get another cylinder that's already fully pinned up with sidebar and key included, but its your call. Squelchtone

I appreciate the offer but I will still try to find the donate button. I am new to the forum world and here is the kicker I work on computers all day. The top and driver pins I was not too worried about but the sidebar is what I was looking for really. I will probably just hit the sale on securitysnobs and get a few. If you have any other good locks to learn on for sidebars at a cheap to moderate price if you could send me the link I would appreciate it.Thanks for the help.

I consider myself newish still because I am not up to where I can pick a lot of lock, it is only the handful of them that I currently have. Hopefully I get better since I am trying my hand at making pins soon and can up my skills with that, but we shall see.
