Wizard mortise cylinder?

Postby brightnight » 26 Jan 2017 1:43

I'm new to lock picking having only picked a few clear locks over the last couple weeks. I'm learning quickly and looking to expand my understanding and knowledge. From reading this forum it seems like the "Mr. Wizard mortise cylinders" are highly suggest and will help me expand and challenge me for a long while. Is this ebay link a legitimate seller for these locks? Thanks in advance.

I am not certain if that's the right eBay seller. I do know Mr Wizard is a member on the forums and I purchased from him using private message and PayPal.

Awesome! And this is a good lock set to start with? I'm a little worried repinning will be hard but ultimately will want to purchase something I can practice and grow with.

Repinning it won't be hard at all. Unscrew one of the grub screws in the top, drop the spring and pins out, reload, move onto the next. I recommend it for anyone interested in hobby picking.

Thanks for the advice, I just purchased one and look forward to practicing!

When you say "hobby picking", is this opposed to professionally (locksmith)? Just out of curiosity, would you offer different advice if that was the case? I'm just starting out and I don't think I'll ever get that far, but curious what the next step would be. Thanks again for the help.

It'd be a good practice tool if you're learning to pick with hopes of getting into professional locksmithing as well.
There's just a ton of other things you should get more familiar with if you want to get into the profession; because you wouldn't be just picking locks from 9-5.

Locksmiths I know rarely pick a lock. They carry a small set unlike the monster sets that locksport guys have.

Hi guys

Yes that is my lock on the ebay listing. You can PM me here on the forum to get one. Seems many feel better buying from there for the protection they provide to the buyer. But if you are not in USA you must PM me here to get one sent internationally.

I thank all of you that have bought one and hope to continue to provide the best practice lock possible. Don't be fooled buy the knock offs now out there that are doing their best to look to be the same product it is not. If you don't see the name "Super Max 7 Pin Practice Lock" you are looking at the knock offs. I have improved it several times since I started making it 4 years ago and will do it again when I find something new I can add.

Thank you Silverado, jimu57, and brightnight for your positive comments they are very appreciated. :D

I am still able to offer my semi famous practice lock made in USA while most are now being made offshore. If you don't see the lock body stamped made in USA as all mine still do you are likely getting a inferior product. Please pm me if interested while they last. Free shipping if you are in USA at this time.
