Pick Handles

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Pick Handles

Postby Prepheckt » 12 Nov 2003 20:35

In looking at my pick set, I notice that some of the handles are thicker then others, with "layers" of metals on the handles, which makes them a little "rounded", while some of the others, are just one straight piece of metal. (Like the blade on a butterknife).

I wondered why they are diffrent. I perfer using the thicker ones because they don't bite into my hand as much. Would it be a bad idea to rubber coat them, or use some athletic tape on the handles?

the thinner ones you would put into a brass holder, for lack of a better term. Rubber coating would take away from the feeling you get from the handle as you pick the lock. My best advice would be to learn to pick fast, that way it doesn't cut into your hand :D
