Alternative Blanks for Ilco 1646

Postby MemeMagic » 8 Feb 2017 16:16

I need to have some keys made, but they need to be brass finished.

This is the original form: https://hdsupplysolutions.com/shop/p/na ... 50-p885550 , but I cannot find all brass blanks anywhere.

Does anyone know if:
- https://hdsupplysolutions.com/shop/Prod ... reId=10051
or
- https://www.mscdirect.com/webapp/wcs/st ... s/74418724

Can accept the same keying. Thanks.

There are OEM brass keyblanks available on eBay. The seller I found is asking $7.50 for two keys.

Called CLK. Only have plated in stock. Depending on how many you want, they can order for you.

Just a bit of a tip,
Those silver-colored key blanks you already have are actually all brass, underneath the plating
you can actually rub off the silver with a brush, might wanna mount that brush to a bench grinder
so it doesn't take two days though...

I see that mrlock.com has ESP NA16 blanks for $0.50 ea + $9.95 S/H. If you need several keys and aren't able to remove the nickel plating like Bill suggested, you might consider ordering from them. The shipping charges though... expensive!

I'd check with Key Craze. https://www.keycraze.com. I order all my keys from them. They don't list the finish. The downside is you need to order a minimum of 10, but they are .45 cents each.

ESP or original CompX National blanks will be un-plated. I always keep 50 of the CompX ones in stock.
