Plug Spinner

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Which A1 spinner do you mean? If you're talking about the cheap little black one with the flip down tab and the exposed spring, then either Rytan spinner wins that contest without even trying. If you're talking about the Spinaker pocket-sized...tough call. The Spinaker was my original plug spinner and I loved it. It was strong enough to turn the grimiest cylinders and really durable. It also had a nice solid feel. I'm using the Rytan 5798 spinner most of the time now and it is very nice. It's a lot lighter than the Spinaker but it seems to have every bit as much power. You can also buy 3 RY5798's for the cost of 1 Spinaker so its tough to beat. My favorite plug spinner is the HPC Flip-It but its really tough to get that in a pick case. Its also in the $30 plus range. I just seem to have a weakness for hefty metal tools.

The only plug spinner I have ever owned or used is the Rytan. I can't get it to work for anything. I've just resigned myself to having to pick a lock the other way which I am capable of doing anyway. Met a Locksmith a little over a week ago and he swore by the A-1 with the exposed spring, I am aware of the other A-1 and the HPC tools you speak of as well, but have never used anything but the Rytan.

For me, the Rytan is apparently a lot like the SD-7 Sesamee Decoder Tool, something I have owned for years and can't get it to work for anything.

As I said, it's on the site, and if he couldn't find it, it's available in a zip archive on zeke79's ftp...
