Orientation of serrated pins

Postby Shackle Jackal » 26 Feb 2017 18:57

Ok I feel that I am making this more important that it really is, which direction do the serrations face on the pins ? I have the sparrows reload kit and the serrated pins only have serrations on one side. Does it matter if the pins and facing north toward the bible or south towards the core ?

I have loaded them both ways and really not getting the same gritty snagging that I get on these american padlocks (1305) that I have been working on. Also I have only loaded the driver pins and haven't tried to pin up a practice that had both serrated key and driver pins. Any help would be appreciated

The serrations face towards the key pins.

The serrations on driver pins should be closer to the plug so that they'll have a better chance of providing a false set. For picking, security pins would be OK in all chambers. In use though, I've found that it's best to use a regular driver in the last chamber so it keeps the plug aligned with the bible... otherwise the lock may really crunchy when inserting the key.

Makes you wonder how many people got it wrong before they decided it was required to cast that into the body of the explosive.

If the serrated pins had been that thing my brother would have been picking pieces of me off the walls, floor and ceiling. Talk about a learning curve ! Many thanks for the responses !
