Good Cabinet Locks?

Good Cabinet Locks?

Postby femurat » 12 Dec 2016 10:02

I'm looking for good cabinet locks to upgrade some drawers and cabinets at the office. Are there good manufacturers? I know there are RONIS, EUROLOCKS, LEHAMANN. Any others? It's not about security, I just want something decent that is made here in Europe and that comes in different sizes.
A wafer lock would be ideal for these applications. Something like this one

Thanks :)

Thanks for making me dream, Squelchy... but I said wafer locks mainly for one reason: their price.

Cheers :)

MulTlock, keso and evva all make some drawer locks and they are not extremely expensive. The cheapest is MTL but still probably more expensive than wafers :(

Come to think of it : Abus? They are usully not very expensive and they make locks in all shapes and sizes.
I think I have seen a drawer lock from Evva with just a sumple keyway and simple (4 pin tumbler) key. But maybe that was a really old product, I can't find it anywhere.
To infinity... and beyond!

I can't seem to find any specs on the cams of these locks.

What is quality of the metal? Some of them certainly look thicker than others.

I ask because the link to the Abloy page does not even show the locks having cams. They seem like secondary consideration... which is a bit troubling.

But I am probably missing something on the page.

The abloys supports cams, I have a few first "edition" Abloys as cam locks.

Have a few Abloy Classic cam locks. Or at least think there are still one or two in my collection.

Here is another (not cheap) cam lock solution:

Image

That one was a display at a lock shop I used to frequent a few years ago. The new owner sold that one to me really cheap because he figured it did not work without the code. What he did not realize was that it was still set on the factory code.

I put the cruciform cam lock on the display because there was a cutout for a cam lock, but it was empty. Did not want to put a normal lock on the display, so put on that tiny cruciform lock. :)

If the cabinet allows,
(Won't be much better)
You could "Daisy Bar" it.
(But would be cheaper)

Get you two flat head machine screws, flat bar stock, and some tools...

Drill the cams of two locks,
Install the second lock,
Measure distance between holes,
Bolt the two cams together.
(You get the picture)

Have to admit,
It'll be fun watching someone trying to pick it, one lock at a time.
Dropping the tension wrench, is the subconscious screaming open before you can.
