Last night I picked my third stubborn 5200 that I'd only picked once before, and managed to rake open my other old Best lock as well. Trying to get in the habit of using REALLY light tension, and not applying more and more tension as I set pins. I think that's what's been tripping me up. I'm finding it easier to set pins when I SPP my Best locks with super light tension. Still not getting them open/to control that way, but I think it's the right track.

I managed to pick my first 6-pin Medeco Biaxial today. Next step is picking the other couple medecos I have sitting around with more security pins.

Opened these (except the 83) up today. Tried a different pick, and tok for a few, much better success rate. I pinned the 83 up myself, after having a custom coded key made at a local shop. Lots of high and lows. Tricky little bugger I hope to get some day.

This is the MOTO version of the ss65cs. It has a mauer res 1 profile core & for me it was a long painful pick. I have been trying to pick this lock for months. The warding in the plug & the steps or whatever there called on the pins made it so i had to use a bunch of different tools to get it open. i even had to order more hooks cause i could not reach all the pins with my starter kit. After i got it open disassembling it was a pita also. I got it off of ebay & it was listed as a regular ss65cs but i could not disassemble it? When i removed the rubber strip there were 2 ball bearings, 1 on each side pressed into the body & the bottom cover plate stoping it from being removed. After figuring out a way to remove those i finally gutted it. I will say though, i dont think to many people gut this MOTO version. I dont think this core is supposed to be removable without destroying the lock.

I got a package with some locks & keys from RedE today. this one looked like the toughest of the bunch & was the only lock that did not have a key so of course it got my attention first.

These were the rest of the locks.

I still have to try this key in the sargent but it looks like fun.

Thank you RedE for the package!

Pinned up a couple of locks for my brother to practice on, nothing special schlages that are pinned progressively, all standard pins. I picked all of those to make sure I had them working correctly and that they were not too difficult to start on(didnt want to discourage my bro).

while he was working on those I picked my schlages that I have pinned with serrated and spools, picked two master 140's, several master # 3's , a master #1, a kryptonite padlock, a U-haul padlock with a yale keyway, a brinks commercial. It was a good morning for picking.

Medeco Payphone Lock (3 Pin, Cam style pins, raise and rotate at same time)

Using my trusty DCAP lifter ;)

Medeco Payphone Lock (Western Electric Style, Normal 4 pin, raise then rotate)

BuddiLock Dimple Lock (Mul T Lock Knockoff, 5 pins)

Check out that Mul-T-Lock *cough* BuddiLock key! My first dimple pick.. ever! 5 standard pins, no pin in pin. Used a short hook, have a dimple set in the mail to start attacking my Interactive.

Nice work, adi_picker. :D

Which tools did you find most useful on each lock?

Today i got some very nice preasent in the post! Where would we be without ebay.

I opened a Kasp 18060 padlock. Why do they make such a tough lock with such a poor quality core. Just a 5 pin With a Y1 keyway. Happy it takes a euro cylinder, it will soon be upgraded. Also 2 mul t lock classic rim cylinders. (Old style) For anybody that is having trouble with mul t locks, my advice is heavy tension! They seam to like it more.
Now i get the pleasure of taking them all apart and putting them all back together again.

Thanks Gordon,

Think I have had the second Medeco posted up before but I used a rake on it, so it never really felt like a true pick. I used a Peterson DCAP lifter on both of them this time and found it to be excellent. No changing tools, and you can lift and then easily rotate the pins by placing the V around the angle. For the first one, the Cam Style, once I had my V located on the pin, I used a back and forth motion to continually rotate the pin, while lifting it into set. On the second, the normal type, I just used the standard Xeo method, CW tension, pick to shear first, and then rotate for the sidebar. I actually have 2 of these identical with different bittings and I picked them both a few times to make sure it wasn't luck. I found that usually I only had to rotate 1 or 2 of the pins each time, even after I scrambled them by sliding the key in and out. I have a third style of Medeco Payphone here, the one you sent me. Its a hybrid style of the above 2. It has the Cam style pins, but rather than having them directly in contact with the spring, it also has a set of drivers like a normal Medeco. Still working on that one, though the reason why I may not have been able to pick it yet may have just occurred to me ;) For all the picks I used a .050 Peterson prybar. Cant wait to get the new ones in the mail, these Medecos have proven to be the little challenge I have been craving for a while now, I got a rush when they opened that I have been missing for quite some time!

Picked one of two American #40s that I got last week. No screw in there so I can't remove the core to see what's inside :(

Ran through a few titaliums, a couple Everests, and ran into a wall with one of my Medeco 52 padlocks. Having heck of a time with it.

Thanks, this key was a gift from a fellow member. If you have a lock with a sargent LA keyway i could make you a copy if you want?
