Hello people,
I'm looking to buy a euro profile cylinder for my door. I'm between EVVA ICS and Winkhaus KeyTec X-Tra but I cannot really decide which one to buy.
The past few days I have been searching for information regarding these two cylinders but I haven't found something yet that would make me pick the one over the other. I only know that they both are high security cylinder.
i will be using a reinforced escutcheon from Disec(Disec OR02) so I don't worry about pulling or snapping attacks on the cylinder.
I have also considered some alternatives of high security cylinders available in my place, like Abloy Protec 2(I already have one of these), Kaba ExperT, Mul-T-lock MT5+, Mauer NW4/NW5, etc but I would prefer to try something different this time like these two(EVVA & WinkHaus).
So, what's your opinion on those two? Which one you would get? Do you think one is superior to the other?
Thank you in advance.

I've no experience of either, but I do like a winkhaus. If you want the ultimate pick protection, I'd go with the abloy, seeing as the cylinder will be protected from DE anyway.....
Although, have you seen the EVVA MCS?

Yeah, I know about the Abloy. The thing I don't like about this cylinder is that it does not "feel" that smooth while using. I have been using two Protec 2s for the past 4 years and while they both work fine, sometimes there is that feel that the key is jamming and the discs do not rotate very smooth. Even after having lubricated the discs. Plus I'm not actually looking for something top notch in terms of security because I'm going to "upgrade" the lock on an old wooden door.
I want to try something different. A cylinder special like the ones I mentioned(the EVVA and the Winkhaus).
The MCS is definitely one of the cylinders I would be willing to buy. Its VERY special and unique but unfortunately, first its price is way out of my budget (I can afford to buy one that costs up to ~100 Euros and the MCS would cost me at least 200-even if I order it from Germany where it can be found in a much lower price) and second, while it is a very interesting lock I dont think I would trust it in my door as I would trust a usual mechanical cylinder. I mean, what if one day I try to unlock the door and one of the magnets inside the cylinder does not work? I guess something like that, is unlikely to happen considering that this is a very expensive lock, coming from a respectful and reliable manufacturer and it has been out there for years...but its just a thought.

I also have no experience with either of the locks you listed but after reading about them & where they are going to be installed & just as a collector i think i would try the winkhaus. Dont get me wrong evva makes a sweet lock but i think i would go for there 3ks or the new 4ks. Theres something about the 20pins in 4 rows on the winkhaus that would put a smile on my face though. Just looking at the key when i was away from home would make me grin. As for the Evva MCS, malfunctioning in the lock itself would be highly unlikely because the magnets in the lock are completely sealed from the keyway. Its my opinion that it would be more likely for there to be a problem with the pins & springs or the magnets on the keys from abuse like throwing, etc.

I see your point. I thought about it and I decided to get the Winkhaus. Then I called the place that was selling the winkhaus at the lowest price and they told me that they had already sold all four of the winkhaus x-tra cylinders they had received three days before. And they're going to receive a few more by the end of the month or even later.
Anyway, I didn't want to wait that much so I went for the ICS.
The key looks interesting. Inserting the key on the ICS is not smooth but I guess it's because it is new.
I also had the chance to try the 3KS plus and I noticed that inserting the key on this one was incredibly smooth compared to any other cylinder I have ever tried. I wish I could get the 3KS plus since they were also selling this one too at a significantly lower price than anyone else here in my city(140 Euros with 5 keys instead of ~200 which is the average).
Anyway, thank you guys for sharing your opinion. If someone would like to add anything else regarding these two cylinder(EVVA ICS & WinkHaus x-Tra), it would still be great. Especially on the Winkhaus since there is very little information about this one on the net. I'll keep an eye on the thread since I'm still interested in the Winkhaus.
