Manual grinder turned into automatic

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Manual grinder turned into automatic

As i stated before on an early post i have finally converted my manual grinder into an automatic, i tough about making a guide of how to do it but after completation i figured it out tath its far better just to buy one from your local hardware store( im going to), dont get me wrong it does work and i have already made two picks out of it, but it as an small overheating problem and its not all thath safe metal parts with electrict current passing trough are exposed.

Still this are the fotos of the thing.

That's the first time I see a manual grinder. Electric ones sure a dirtcheap and easy to use but this is funky 8)
It's not the tools that open the lock. It's me.

Don't do it. Hand grinders are fabulous. They are the best for precision grinding and for low temp grinding. Yeah I know that they are a monster to work but the best blacksmithing work I've ever seen was ground and polished with hand grinders. We've got three of them down on the farm, including a 17" (dressed down from the original 20") treadle grinder. My dad is a master machinist and he loves the big face on the wheel (and again that speed control). I wonder why you don't see more speed selectable bench grinders around. I'm waiting for the goofs at the physical plant to ruin another bench top drill press so I can strip the pulleys and convert a grinder for speed selection.

You have a drastically reduced "oops" rate with hand grinders. Save yours for the finishing touches on tools that you rough out on a bench grinder.

Whell wath is done, done it is, still no regrets from the conversion cause it is totally reversible so probably when i get to buy the real thing i will just get it back to full manual. 8)
