Decent House Lock

Hello, I think this is the right place to put this. I was shopping at a local hardware store (True Value) and found this lock for $8 give or take. It has 5 spools and tough key-way.

Wow I thought National bit the dust many years ago. I wonder if this is really from the original company
I am thinking of? The price was certainly right, although at the True Value in my town I can always find
a lot of good deals. Thing is the owners are super-lazy about marking up their prices, so you can find an
item from 5+ years ago behind the first few items on the hook. I have gotten some fantastic deals there
and lots of times, the old item I find is so old that it was made in the US too!

Isn't it odd that while every other lock maker always includes at least one standard top pin, National
goes and puts 5 of them in their lock--They always did remind me of AMC/Rambler

I think you're right, bill. The packaging says since 1901 so it must be that company.

National Hardware sold out to Stanley several years ago.
National Lock is CompX.

Wow, that is some interesting history on them. I enjoy going through there once in a while and seeing what I can't find. I swear every time I go in, there is something old, but new on the shelves! Thank you BillDeserHills and JeffMoss26 for the added information.
