masterlock python cable lock?

dusting off the account to ask two questions on this gently dubious critter:

1) has anyone opened one of these up? I'm curious about the internals but not sure i want to destroy mine (as while not super secure, it's suitable for what i need it for)

2) has anyone actually rekeyed these? it's marketed as rekeyable, but i'm not seeing an obvious way in, and it seems to be wafers which are a bit less convenient than breaking out the pinning kit.

Have not bought a master lock product on principle for a while.

That being said, I found this resource online:
http://content.masterlock.com/masterloc ... l_9-03.pdf

Hope that answers your questions.

Says you need a "service key", though. So if you don't have that, you might need to pick it to control.

well that's easy enough for the second part. -- IF the new versions are the same as the older one on the PDF. (that's the one i thought i was getting, amazon sent the new one)

i think the only masters i've bought in the last decade have been sacrificed as locksport village demo locks up until this cable lock. i needed something more secure than a piece of twine, cinch-able, and non-marring. this fit the bill and doesn't look like a hammer will shatter it in half a second like most laptop cable locks. it's not a bad deterrent for opportunistic twits, but not much "secure" than a plate glass door.

They are rekeyable, the cores pop out with a longer key blank, the wafers are captive but Master sell some really handy pliers for removing the wafers and inserting new ones. They have a rekey kit for Python locks which also include some of the Master trailer tongue locks etc.

from the service pdf, it looks to be 1 pin longer with all but the last cut to 7, can anyone confirm that?
