Where can i buy plug clips?

Postby G-lock » 3 Apr 2017 8:25

Okay so this seems like a stupid question but where in the heck can i buy some plug clips for a reasonable price? I first thought that i would be able to find them at home depot or lowes but after looking there i checked harbor freight, ace, maynards, & gilroys & no one has them. EVERYONE had C and E clips but not the same type that you would find on a lock they are all to big. I also looked on amazon, ebay, even google did not help me. What am i doing wrong? Are they not called plug clips? Heres a picture of what im looking for but im sure you all know already. I really need them to have the same OD as these clips.

Check ebay for 'zipco' you might be able to find an old Zipf kit that has all sizes of clips. I have 2 different kits that the same seller happened to have.

While you are there might as well get the tru-arc ring set also,
they are great for repairing junky Emtek locks after the lever/knob falls off

I might be wrong here but, when i looked none of the clips i saw at HF were the same as the ones i needed. They do have clips that will work for most applications but my cores are going into padlocks & the space for the core is very tight so the OD has to be the same or i have to grind them down which is a pain & looks bad.

Okay "G",
I think that you started on the right path, though you didn't consider cutting out the middle man. Since I didn't do all the legwork, I can't say that this is any cheaper.
But here's the 1st thing that came to mind :

Things like this I tend to buy from my local locksmith .. Helps develop a relationship.. Strike up a conversation .. Let them know about your hobby ..
When I finally leave this world.. Will someone please tell my wife what I have REALLY spent on locks ...

Actually the C clip on the left looks like the same one Schlage uses on their F series cylinders
I bought a fat roll of them from Schlage years ago

Best thing to do is harvest a box of old door and lock hardware from a contractor or door shop or another locksmith or recycle center. Strip apart, clean and organize all the various bits. Hours of fun, and free!
