Please identify manufacturer from key

I want to buy a kit to rekey my house locks, but no longer have any originals so I do not know the manufacturer. I was led to believe if I posted a key here, someone would be kind enough to identify it for me. Thanks a lot for your time.

Your key is for a Schlage lock. There should be no problem finding a pin kit to rekey it. I would recommend the LAB Mini DUR-X for Schlage. Also, be sure to get a plug follower when buying the pin kit. You'll need it to keep the top pins and springs inside the cylinder while you change out the bottom pins in the plug.

Thanks for the offer but I ordered one of those DIY kits on Amazon with keys.

I got my kit and changed the first handle and deadbolt, but the other door is Schlage secure. I managed to get one cylinder to fall completely apart already. I have two follow up questions

1. Can I just replace a Schlage secure cylinder with a normal schlage "C" type cylinder?
2. Where is a good resource to buy these cylinders if that is the case?

In just googling around for in all I'm seeing are places selling cylinders for about the same price as replacing the whole handle or deadbolt.

The handle cylinder fell pretty much completely apart and I tossed it, but the deadbolt I didn't destroy and was also gonna probably throw out, so you can have that if you want it. PM me we'll figure something out.

One of my deadbolt schlage cylinders (the one I didn't replace) is in pretty sad shape, it feels like the whole thing is scraping when I try to turn it so I'd still be interested in replacing the cylinder but I guess those resources just aren't commonly for sale?

does it scrape with the door swung open or only when shut? it could be the bolt going into the door frame or it could be the plug of the cylinder your key is inserted into. let us know which one. parts are always available, but Home Depot Schlage and your local locksmith Schlage are two different series and the tailpieces are not the same and the bolt that's inside the door gets extended and retracted slightly differently, so going to a local shop to get parts for a home depot Schlage wont usually work unless they have a bucket of spare parts from residential locks they pulled. The back of the cylinder has a little cap that screws and unscrews when you depress a spring loaded pin, unscrew the cap 1/2 a rotation or a full rotation and see if it grinds less or the same.

This could be because of your key. If the cylinder is out of the door and the cap is not over tightened, then your copied key may be cut a little shallow, which is causing one or more of the pins to rub when turning the key.
