Ideas for medeco specific pick

Postby Goblue57 » 11 Apr 2017 0:39

Hey guys, I'm planning on making a few medeco specific picks in the near future! Since learning medecos I have been relying on a sharp sparrows euro hook to snag the side bar gates and wiggle the pins in place but that doesn't work with the arx pins. I was thinking of making a flag design with a deep v cut to allow the chisel points to ride in, or maybe a u shape, allowing me to get a good hold of the pins.
I was hoping for any ideas or input from you guys as far as tip shape or if anyone has any first hand experience with something of the sort.

-always grateful!

(Since only a hobbyist picker)
Haven't had a Medeco to pick since '94,
But, I had a custom pick that worked for me, I customized.
I took a small 1/2 ball, (heated w/ heat gun) bent a radius similar to a DeForest, filed an aprox. 0.5mm "V" perpendicular to the straight shaft, then worked down tip to what could resembles a worn down pyramid profile, in a sort of staggered "M" shape.
(Keep in mind, the V- notch doesn't go down through the "true" center since the shaft was bent). It almost resembled a poor looking extractor.

Use like a hook, just have to lean to side as much as possible so you can rock pick to get the best swivel on the pin.
Dropping the tension wrench, is the subconscious screaming open before you can.

Pretty sure this came from here. Here is a link to a guide this gentleman made on how to make this type of Medeco picks.
