Godrej locks?

Postby Eazy123 » 11 Apr 2017 10:51

A search brought up very few references to this company, which it looks like is an Indian company who makes things other than locks as well...anyway, I came across this lock on ebay and snagged it, as I'm looking to get more into dimple locks and it's got quite a unique design for a padlock - each chamber has a 3-direction set up similar to a Kaba (keys actually look identical to the two Kabas I've seen before) so I figured it'd be a challenge...is this a quality lock company in India or something? I've never heard of them before.

That's pretty neat.

Here are 2 more for $70 each http://www.ebay.com/itm/152506660465 and this single cylinder version www.ebay.com/itm/152506660505

nice find, thanks!

Happy to share! I hadn't seen the listing you posted before...the guy I bought from was here in the states (actually about half an hour from me) but the price was maybe $1 more. He had 4 extra but it appears they've all sold since last week.

The lock can be opened two different ways:

1. Master key turned in master cylinder 360 degrees clockwise, master key turned in custodial cylinder 90 degrees counterclockwise
2. Master key turned in master cylinder 360 degrees clockwise, custodial key turned in custodial cylinder 90 degrees counterclockwise

If the master key locks up the master cylinder (remaining 360 degrees counterclockwise), neither master nor custodial key can activate the second cylinder and the lock will stay locked.

LPL has a video where he talks about a few of these locks. I think he rakes one of them open with this same type of kaba looking key. I dont remember if it was this lock or not but it was definitely this brand with the same type of key. He was able to alternate raking the 3 pin stacks & get it open fairly quickly. To be honest that video is the only thing that kept me from getting one of these locks. Godrej also has a brass padlock that comes with a Evva 3ks core in it that ive been looking at.

I've been looking at these recently. A picking buddy of mine has one of their "Sherlock" series brass padlocks. Granted it's no Abloy, but it did seem well made. I picked it and it felt like it had at least a few security pins.

I've considered getting a couple of them to add to the pick pile / collection, but the price has been putting me off. These locks are quite inexpensive in India. I visited amazon.in and most of them (even large size) can be had for well under $20. The problem is that none of the sellers will ship outside of India. There are some up on Ebay with free shipping but the price is much much higher.

That double key lock seems like it would be a lot of fun since there's two cylinders to pick!

I was looking for the video, but I can't seem to find it. Do you know the title or number?

Lockpickinglawyer's video no. 423 is a disc lock made by Godrej with the kaba-looking key. That was the only one I was able to find.

No problem! To be honest, it ended up helping me as well! I just started another thread looking for info on sawtooth rakes for opening dimple locks. I had seen a different video about it but couldn't find it again. By random dumb luck this video shows the exact same method, and it also linked me to the original video I first saw about it!
