Hey guys, wondering if anyone would share their tips for beating countermilling. Working on an assa with the new style pins, pins lock up tightly and using manual counter rotation drops pins. Any help is appreciated!

The pins are going to drop.
Use a tension wrench that is just barely narrow enough to fit in the keyway to give you more control and rock the pick a little to try getting the pin to come out of the milling.

If you have TOK that is snug, that gives more back and forth control with the plug, plus....light tension.

I agree with what was already said. Especially rocking it while you manually counter rotate. Make sure your tension wrench is snug or even tightly wedged in there also. Sometimes i use 2 smaller wrenches at the same time if i have to. When i pick my assa locks i like it if i can let go of the tension wrench & it stays in the lock. Those assa locks can be a pain but there also a great learning experience & gratifying to open.
