I live with some shady folks, and on my storage locker (which is in a room shared with other tenants' lockers) I had a Master 40mm. Big mistake, I know.
Anyway, one day I went to storage to find the lock open - the shackle was partially cut and the lock was open - I'm guessing hammered. Nothing was stolen, although there's not much to steal in there aside from old records and yearbooks.
What would be a good lock to use that would not only be fun to pick (for my own enjoyment), but to also use afterwards on my locker, not only as a "screw you" to whoever broke my last lock, but to keep people out of my locker?

Reason: fixed title from Goodock to good lock

I also like the Buffo 28/70 basically the same lock, but is the lower cost version When you do lock up your storage be sure to place the lock so it makes picking as difficult as you can

Agreed. Keyway facing the way that is most difficult to use. Gordon

Thank you. Amazon shows it as Abus Buffo, with an Abus logo. What do the two numbers mean? I imagine 24 is diameter, what's 70?

IIRC, the 24 is the width of the shackle opening, and the 70 is the lock body diameter.

I don't understand why we're recommending the lower quality Buffo version when there is already attempts at breaking into his current lock.
Get the actual Abus Discus 24/70 for $26-$31 dollars unless funds are an issue. Also, what kind of hasp is on this locker? how big is the hole in it?

I'm at work now but this is pretty much the same as the one on my locker. Is the Abus 25EC/70 KA comparable? It's about the same price - $30. I like that it has a dimple keyway which could be a deterrent since it looks so different.

Because I have stocked, serviced and used the less expensive Buffo lock for many years and it works just as well as the more expensive Abus top of the line model does. Do you really think there is any point in using a more expensive lock with a $3 hasp?

You make a good point. To me, I think that if you can have the lock protect the hasp, it might be worth it. Recently I saw a Mul-t-lock "hockey puck" lock on a storage unit, and I thought that was pretty perfect. It is s shutter style shackle, and then the shape covers the hasp with some thick metal. Essentially keeping hands off the hasp by using the lock body. Other than that, I think you are right. The other thing is hasp size, getting a lock that fits and can protect the hasp. If you aren't taking the measurements, then you are relying on luck to get something that is going to fit well on the hasp.

Next you'll likely tell me this hasp was installed with the four tiny wood screws that were in the bag, with the hasp Put a nice lock on it and the next enterprising thief will bash it off with a hammer, or pry it off with a screwdriver Too bad you didn't have your property insured, then your biggest problem would be coming up with a good enough list of 'stolen' goods, in order to cover the deductible and subsequent 'devaluation' of older property by said insurance company
