I have never seen a JD in New Zealand. Presumably JL and JM are the master and maison profiles for JA to JD .

I bought this 5€ small chinese padlock at the supermarket. I got to say that it's overpriced. It's so poorly made that even with the original keys you struggle to open it. I'm new at lockpicking, still learning the basics and how to handle the picks. I haven't got a top of the keyway wrench yet so it was more difficult to get some space inside the lock with the normal tension wrench. But I managed to pick it already about 10 times now. TENG FENG 4038 you got picked.

Looks like its been a banner day for MTL! A couple of days back I received a parcel from tpark, containing amongst others.. A MTL 7x7 housed in a G55P.. And a MT5+! The MT5 sliders were a bear to pick, definately not a 4 minute video for me like some of the ones I have seen, but an open none the less. I started by trying to pick it CCW, as this bound the top pins first, which I am used to, and I could easily get past them into a deep false set but I couldnt get the tensioning for the sliders correct. I must have picked those top pins 50 times today and then flunked on the sliders, dropping the top stacks back while slacking the tension. About an hour ago I started to try and pick it CW, which bound the sliders first, and I found them much easier to set. Other than them, it feels and acts exactly like an Interactive, although the pins themselves are a litter smaller, so I found I couldnt be as brutish with them. They required a bit more precision to not mash the inner and outer at the same time. Thanks heaps tpark, I hope you enjoy what I sent you in return! Also, peterwn, I also have never seen a JD in Aus, nor a JL or JM, which I agree would be the Maison profiles. That said, I got that info from an MLAA doc, so I assume its correct, perhaps they never bothered to put the JD into production? Could be a rarity for one of us to find adi_picker

Good job getting the MT5+ open - that's not an easy lock. I too had the issue with pins dropping when trying to open it CCW, but the other way is better. I never knew the pins were smaller - I've had them apart, just not at the same time. --Ted.

Nice work, tpark! How long did it take you total? Gordon

Thanks! Probably most of the day - I had to change some include files which many source files were dependent on, so I had time to fiddle with the locks during the builds. If I had opened them blind that would have been a more significant accomplishment, but since I've picked them before, I know the idiosyncrasies of these locks, which vastly reduces picking time.

Knowing the locks helps, but it still takes skill. Looks like the dust shutter is sticking on your C-series. Gordon

I had a closer look at the way the shutter works, and it slides along the longer dimension of the lock rather than rotating with the core. I've had this lock apart, and it took a bit of thinking to get it back together properly.

Yale Platinum 3 Star. I couldn't find much info on this online, I think it's related to the Millenco Magnum but with less pins. ( Pins at 20 degree angles and 4 sliders without false gates.) I've been trying to practice on locks with sliders. Currently working on NW4 and Mini Desmo Padlock. Also have MT5+ and '07 VW Beetle left door lock in the mail.
