Abloy Profile??

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Abloy Profile??

Postby DangerDane » 23 May 2017 8:13

What are the chance/odds to get my hands on some Abloy Profile locks and keys?. I have a classic now, but would like Profile since I like the style of the keys more. I am aware that the keys are no longer protected etc. Preferably the locks keyed alike.

But am I at a loss, or are they still made etc?

They are still to be found. Look on eBay for Abloy padlock, then look at pics of the keys and/or keyways.

There had recently been a seller selling Abloy 655 padlocks NIB with keys. Not sure if they are still listed.

Here is one -

Yes. They say Restricted military on key. I saw a couple older model abloy kik cylinders listed on ebay too. If still there. Its a 2 pack keyed alike. Its priced under 50bux, not bad.

And I need something where I can go to my local dealer for keys and locks just like I can at the moment for my Classic.

You can still get Abloy High Profile, sure. Many different profiles possible too. The "restricted" 656 military profile is almost identical to publicly available profiles out there but it has more discs. As the OP says, the blanks are no longer protected and can be purchased from the usual sources. Is that what you're after? Profile blanks? Remember that High Profile has a 7.5mm diameter key and Classic has a 6mm diameter key. There are a whole bunch of lockmakers who make knock-offs of the High Profile now too.

From a picking perspective, Abloy High Profile is an incredibly secure lock. It is my humble opinion that it is the most secure lock that Abloy have made up to date. I make a pick/decoder for it and it is most definitely pickable but if you were to meet one in the field, without my dedicated tool, you won't ever pick it.

In fact, if Abloy made just a couple of tiny alterations to the lock it could be made completely impervious to lockpicking. But that's another story...

I am actually looking for a key and some locks to go with it, in High Profile :). I have both Protec, and Protec 2 and they are just a tad too expensive for what I want to use it for. Hence why I looked at High Profile, but do you know where I can get it??
