Schlage rekey stuck in change position

Was trying to pick this, it popped into the change position and promptly got stuck. Neither the operation key nor the change key will go in and I get zero feedback, no springiness whatsoever when I probe it with my pick. Anyone else encountered a problem like this with a rekey lock? Note: This is one of three schlage smartkeys that I have in my ever growing collection of locks.

Possible that one or more of the wafer/guide pin assemblies lost touch with each other, so to speak. I've done this with one, had to disassemble to repair.

Normally, picking to reset position will allow you to use change key no problem.

That's one reason these were taken off the market. They would frequently malfunction and need to be replaced. The other reason they were taken off the market was because they lost a patent infringement suit brought by Kwikset.

Others may have more experience with this product. In my limited experience with using the blue key, it may be a gonner. I have seen a product that is supposed to be able to reset these, but I've never used it. Again, perhaps somebody else can jump in.

Kwikset sells a reset cradle for their Smartkey line (http://www.kwikset.com/products/details ... radle.aspx). I don't think Schlage has any official reset tool for their locks, but someone has invented one he claims can do both. Never tried it myself either, but it's $32 from CLK (https://www.clksupplies.com/products/re ... t-smartkey). Maybe not a bad thing to have on hand if you're going to be picking/servicing those types of locks a lot. It also looks like something you could make easily enough with a hacksaw blade and a small die grinder... Of course, no guarantees that would work if the lock has been moved to the change position and is stuck there, that may be a disassemble/repair job as one of the sliders and guide pins may have gotten out of line with each other in some not-easy-to-correct way.

So I guess the real trick now is going to be how to take the thing apart with it stuck in the change position. Anyone have pictures or links to a video? I've searched but can't find anything.

In the past when mine have become stuck, it has been due to a lack of lubrication
spray some lube in the cylinder and give it the old screwdriver force twisty
if that doesn't work, I like to throw it on the floor and walk away... :P
