What is this key

This use to be a pool key, the lock was changed a while ago, but I have never seen another one of its kind. Can someone tell me what this is and who made it. Thanks

Looks like a dogtag to me. does the other side look the same? Doubt it would be RFID with a metal body.

it's only marking is an arrow located on the bottom of the key, that is the only marking on the whole key. It has a mirror finish to it, so it is kind of hard to take a photo without showing my face. I will try to take a better photo tomorrow.

OK, I can see the arrow impression on the picture.

Hi all:

This appears to be a key for a CorKey lock.

I have never seen one of these in real life, only pictures and descriptions in a book.

Thanks! I think you are right. How rare are they? Thankyou all for helping identify this key.

Gordon:

I did some reading up on this type of lock today, it apparently works using a pattern of dots which are magnetized onto the metal key using a pattern template and the tip of an electromagnet to encode the pattern on the key. Keys can be erased and reused using a deguasser tool.

It sounds a lot like the old style punch card hotel locks only with a larger assortment of hardware types available.

Very interesting design. Glad I found this lock.

Still looking for videos to see it in use. Found one that is the RFID version, but I have yet to find this one in particular.

If anyone finds any more information or a for sale listing, I would love to take a look at it.

They used to advertise in the back of the Locksmith Ledger back when it was the smaller format. That is all I know about them other than the magnetic coding bit.
