Typewriter Hades ...

Pull up a chair, grab a cold one, and talk about life as a locksmith. Trade stories of good and bad customers, general work day frustrations, any fun projects you worked on recently, or anything else you want to chat about with fellow locksmiths.

When my daughters were about 12 and 14, they got into a "budget" version car. They literally had no idea how to roll down the window. When we told them, they couldn't stop laughing. They were amazed you had to reach across the car to roll the other window down. There was no window button, just a hand crank.

Sigh ....

Hand crank windows.... Pshhh, my car only has AM radio.

One of my cars came radio delete and heater delete!

Ever had a cargo van with only a driver's seat? Got a funny story about that from when I was about 5...

Please don't tell me you still use space and depth keys, and paper code books!

I'm just a hobbiest, so yes to the space and depth keys.

Any more I am spend most of my time as a programmer / database admin. Right now looking at some ancient FORTRAN code, for predicting the heat-up time for ingot pre-heating, that needs to be modernized into .NET. No documentation or comments--joy. By the time I go home I've had enough of computers.

As an aside, I think books read better when authors just typed things out rather than edited and cut-and pasted endlessly. If I could pick up an IBM Selectric at a good price I think I would.

I understand you're need to always rush around, doing as much or more work as possible, because You have a monkey
on your back, namely you're boss & you need to support him, as well as yourself & your family, each & every day

I don't have a problem with my old code books, if I find they don't have the code I need, I just impression a key
My depth & space keys work fine, My only dependent is my dog and the tax man.

Funny thing is, when the job is finished, all a criminal needs to do to gain entry is break a window--All your computer
originated keys and electronic hardware won't change that.

Last time I saw a IBM Selectric was on the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor. Whether they still worked I do not know.
