Now how you get back at him...

1. Buy another of the same kind of lock.
2. Disassemble it.
3. Remove all pin stacks except the very front one.
4. Make sure that there is no spool pin there.
5. Reassemble the lock.
6. Impress your dad at how fast you can pick it now.

Congratulations! Also, I'm glad to hear it's not just me. :D I've a Masterlock #17 that I've yet to be able to pick, and it seems I get little or no feedback from it as well.

That is the best type of excitement.

What are you going to tackle next?

The one I'm working on now is an American Hardened series 260. I love when you get that sweet clicking sound and the lock pops.

Maybe because its still a new thing but I pick everyday. I've never been able to rake a lock open I only have had success with SPP is this normal?

The techniques of SPP and raking are different. Also, some locks are easy to SPP and hard to rake, and vice-versa.

Some people also have a knack for SPP, others rake better than I ever could.

Could be that you are starting to get a feel for how things are moving inside.

One of the best parts of lock picking is when you start to get that sense that you can "see" inside the lock with what you feel with your pick.

Great to hear you are improving and are feeling good about your progress!

Ok, an update I pick most my locks everyday the only one is the American 260 I'm unable to pick. When I got it the lock was covered in red rust and I cleaned it up the best I could I'm able to open it with a key but its pretty stiff could this is why I'm having such an issue with picking it?
