Picked up a Blitz this week, with the hope of replacing my Universal with something a little more versatile. $950 AUD, so not a steal, but considering a quick check of the wholesaler turned up $5500, Im prepared to cop it and put in a little repair work.

Looking a little tired, but functional, and no parts bent or broken, especially that very expensive plastic cover! Surface rust everywhere, even through the black oxide coating on the eccentric and depth space shafts. Oh, and vice clamp has been replaced with a Plus Minus unit at some point.

Came with a whole box of dirty paper cards! Score!

Cutting head swivel gummed up tight from lack of use. Came with standard small cutter (90deg), so Ill order in a CW-14MC to go with it as well. And maybe a new brush.

Jaw was a little beat up, and had the obligatory cuts into it, so I spent a little time refinishing it, ready for a new coat of black oxide.

Space setting shaft was worn, the shoulder stop had left to right play. Was stuck fast from probably never being adjusted, so I had to use the vice grips back it out. This left a whole lot of marring on it, so I machined it up nice, and shimmed it to take the play out of the stop.

Shoulder stop also had a large chunk missing from a tangle with the cutter. Here you can see where I replaced the missing meat with some metalized epoxy. Have realised that I want to recoat with black oxide though, so I will have to remove and fill with weld.

This is what it looked like by the end of the day, time to get blasting and get it re-powdercoated. Ill put some more pics in this thread as it comes back together.
