Old BEST Standard Oil/Amoco SFIC padlock cores still in use?

Postby tpark » 26 Jul 2017 23:25

I've obtained some old SFIC cores/keys for Standard Oil, and I'm wondering if the system is still in use somewhere, or if the system was replaced with the breakup of Standard Oil. All the cores are the old logo/old style (no clip) cores. They are 6 pin "A" keyway cores, and all of the blind codes start with BM ten some 3 digit number. If there's a chance that there could be locks from this series in use out there, I won't trade the cores without repinning. Any ideas?

Thanks for any help you can provide on this.

I have several in my collection. Based on the age of the locks, I doubt that the systems are still active.

Thanks Jeff - these locks are at least 40 years old, so you're probably right. The padlock has a brass shackle, which is kind of cool to see. The breakup of Standard oil happened far before SFIC, so it wouldn't have affected the use/non use of this key system,
