I bought a couple of older wb padlocks on ebay without keys, I haven't gotten them open yet. What do you guys recommend for lube or other substance to assist in getting them open? I think they are a bit gumed up, all the other locks I have are relatively new and didn't need any assistance.

How old a WB? There are posts for a number of older Wilson Bohannan padlocks. You will need to be more specific as to the model. Pictures help a lot. Gordon

This is how I handle this Drench internal with WD40, Rake pins without tension.. Wipe off excess oil .. Attempt to Pick ..
When I finally leave this world.. Will someone please tell my wife what I have REALLY spent on locks ...

Ive taken to giving all used locks i get my hands on a 30 minute soak in an ultrasonic cleaner... Then a squirt of penetrating lube (i am a trucker, after all) and its like brand new!
Of all the things I've lost in life, I miss my mind the most!

Actually I try to never put lube in any lock that I may be impressioning a key for later

What Bill said - I've spent a lot of time cleaning gunk out of locks that I want to impression.

What's the rationale for that?

Impressioning depends on friction. Lube reduces friction. Gordon

I've had good luck cleaning locks (and similar complex mechanical parts) by giving them a good soak in a solvent that evaporates easily, like denatured alcohol or acetone. Another good option is automotive brake cleaner spray. These will evaporate without leaving any residue behind, but they can dissolve paint as well as some plastics, so use common sense.
One thing that I've noticed with the few WB padlocks I have (old and new) is that they generally like very heavy tension.
As far as lube and whatnot goes my personal favorite is Rem Oil in an aerosol can. You can find it at any sporting goods store. I like it because unlike WD-40 and many competing products it never seems to get gummy or sticky with age. It also doesn't leave behind any "greasy" feeling residue.

Thanks Gordon, It looks exactly like the first one in your thread, not the awesome one.

What solution do you use in your ultrasonic for that?

If Lube was used and you wanted to Impression, what would you use, Carb Cleaner?

I use brake clean spray, then compressed air to dry out the brake clean.

Thanks, That is powerful stuff. Seems like little is left behind after evaporation for both.
