Identify this keyway

Postby jimu57 » 8 Sep 2017 15:58

Ran across a mortise cylinder with what looks like a Schlage reverse "F" keyway. Seems like I have seen this before with a keyway designation of "S". Does this ring a bell to anyone?

No. Tried those. Looks exactly like Schlage F reversed.

You can call Top Notch and ask a salesperson about Schlage having restricted keying,
maybe they know about this reverse schlage f key 800-722-4210

It is on page 83 of The Lewis Cross Reference Key-Blank Directory near the bottom of the page. Jimu57 is correct, Schlage S, OEM 35-100S or 35-101S. No after market blank is listed, at least not when that binder was printed 30 years ago.

Interesting. I wonder if it was an open keyway or restricted in some way?

The reference listed some Schlage blanks as restricted, but not that one.

For what it is worth, there was an unrestricted key for S and T sections, 35-100ST and 35-101ST. No after market keys listed. And a restricted key for Q and S, 35-100V and 35-101V.

Schlage reverse keyways are among several groups in the classic line that are restricted.

Per the Allegion online knowledge base -- Reverse(restricted): Horizontal mirror image of obverse keyways, no longer offered in new key systems and it is not available with Primus option.

It's restricted.
