The last couple days I've been trying to open a 484 but some of the levers don't want to budge after others are set. I took a break from that lock this morning and opened these Medeco locks I received earlier this week. After picking I repinned the Biaxial and noticed it was full of the ARX pins. I picked up a dorma c800 used no keys from habitat for humanity , it is IC, but I don't think dorma made the core,it has no markings on the outside of the core. I have picked to operation but not control.

I sort of picked my first Assa Twin today. I unfortunately was a bit too rough on my prior attempts and bent the thin piece of metal on the sidebar that enters the gate on the fifth pin. The key didn't work unless I really forced it. So I disassembled the lock and tried to bend it back but that didn't work so I removed the fifth sidebar pin. Now it is essentially a fully pinned lock with only 4/5 sidebar pins. I'm a little bummed I broke part of the sidebar because I likely could have had the full lock picked but oh well. Assa Twin (minus one sidebar pin) Broken sidebar, it's hard to see the breakage but it's at the very top of the sidebar in this photo

Nice! Those are no joke, even with one of the sidebar pins inactive. You feeling ready to step up to this bad boy yet?

Thanks, it was a pain to pick, and took some practice to get a feel for spools caught in countermilling. I have been trying all the Twins I have the last few days, and that particular lock had the best bidding and most open keyway. The 6000 spools/countermilling seem much more difficult to overcome, and the V10's have a nastier keyway. It's funny you mention that Assa/Ruko lock with the ten sliders. That lock is so cool. I first saw it on KP last week in a write up by PatrickStar. I promptly did a google search to see if any were available for purchase online and found a site that sells them along with Twin Combi's. I have been looking for a Twin Combi for months now but the site only ships within the UK. A few days ago I decided to take an expensive risk and use a delivery forwarding company to get them sent to my address in the states. I'm a little worried they might steal my package, but if all goes well I should hopefully have a Twin Combi and both models of the Garant/Assa Dp. It's pretty unlikely I will be able to pick it, but I'm gonna at least try.

I bet it was! I can pick the 5-pin series without too much trouble. I've picket the 6000 series twice, but both times were pretty much by accident. It didn't open when I expected it to, rather it was a complete surprise both times (and it took ages!) Adding the sidebar only makes it worse. It's funny you mention that Assa/Ruko lock with the ten sliders. That lock is so <censored> cool. I first saw it on KP last week in a write up by PatrickStar. It sounds like you already found a source. If you or anyone else is still looking I found a few lock shops in Denmark which stock them and take orders online. I had no problem placing orders using my US credit card. I haven't bought a Garant or Grant+ yet since I'm nowhere near the level required to tackle those. The DP12, which I do own, is also a real bastard despite not having a sidebar. I've gotten a false set out of mine but nothing more. Anyway, the sites I know will ship anywhere in Europe but they won't ship to the US. I had my Ruko order and a Burg Wachter Diamant from Amazon.de shipped to a relative in Denmark who was kind enough to forward them to me but I think I'll have to pass on that for future orders. She is getting up there in age and there was a lot of hassle with getting the delivery picked up. (She lives in an apartment in downtown Copenhagen and the delivery people were too lazy to ring the bell so they just left the packages elsewhere for her to go and get them).

I don't have anything fancy to pick yet or the skill to do so. I did however make me an aluminum spp practice block with 15 SC1 KiK cores and a holder for hand held picking KiK cores on the couch. Start Finished Most of them were raked open for the pic. I hope to only grab a hook instead of a bogie as my go to pick. Some day soon, fingers crossed. The back side Do you think I have enough set screws holding in the cores? I think it could use a few more. I still haven't decided if I should polish the aluminum, do a brushed finish, or leave it as is. What do you guys think?

It was a good day for Americans ! (locks that is ) I feel like I had a break through, I was focusing more on my tension and I made a real effort to SLOW down, which seemed to be where I was making mistakes, going too fast and over setting pins. Sat down to kill some time before work and I picked 2 American 1305's (5 pinners), an American 260 and 5200!

Good job, Shackle Jackel. Serrated take a little practice, but you will get to where you can get the tension just right and skip over the serrations. Also, if you listen to the pins, the false sets of the serrations sound different than the real sets. Gordon

Renter lock on a Yale safe deposit box lock that uses mortise cylinders. The pins are all entirely serrated, though the key pin from the fifth pin stack is dirty enough to make it harder to see. This is the lock assembly. If anybody happens to have the blank I need for the picked mortise, please shoot me a PM, as I'd like to buy a proper one rather than having to make one from scratch. This lock will be going into my collection. Gordon
