Peterson plastic pick tubes

Peterson's website is lacking basic details, so I am curious if anyone can provide details on how many picks the peterson plastic tube sizes hold? I know the sizes are listed, and I could measure picks, but they do not list if the tube size is internal or external measurement. Anythings helps, Thanks

The tubes are so thin i or ex doesnt really matter. You want some play inside so you can actually take picks out and slide them back in.

I really recommend one of their bifold leather cases but I like their tubes as well so if that's your primary way to organize or carry your set, its a good way to go.

The main limit of how many fit in which tube will be if they have the rubber or plastic handles or the dipped handles.

Which pick handles are you going with?

They will hold 8 Peterson picks but it's a tight fit. I only have them because they sell some of their products in them. The fold out cases that Squlelch mentioned are a much better option imo. Another alternative might be this case that Silverado posted a few days ago.

I have two of the Petersen's tubes on my desk. The larger of the two will hold 12 Peterson's picks. The smaller will hold 3 easily or 4 if you really cram them. The one that Greengrow posted looks like an in-between size that I don't currently have. Like Greengrow I only have them because I bought some picks from Peterson which came packed in them. As soon as I get around to reorganizing my picks I plan on throwing them out. I think they're good for packaging/storage but not very practical for a working pick set.

If anyone cares these are generic industrial packaging, they are not anything unique to Peterson. They are extremely common for metalworking tooling like drill bits, end mills, and so on. For that application they are normally sold by the largest diameter circle that would fit inside the smaller end. I.e. a "1 inch" size would hold a 1" diameter object, so the inside of the smaller end is roughly 1" x 1". Of course the corners are rounded so you won't be able to get a full 1" square opening.

That makes sense. I thought peterson had the tubes molded to fit single rows of picks, and couldn't figure out why some had such large square dimensions. Ill stick with the trifold. Though I wish they had small pick pockets on the back row as well. Thanks for the replies!

Seems like it wouldn't be too hard to add extra pockets or a strip of elastic if one was handy with a sewing machine

12.7x4.9mm, however you should be able to modify as needed. I designed to fit peterson plastic handles and sparrows monstrum. At one time I wanted to produce and sell them and was going to make it fit more pick handles, however the cost to print commercially is a bit too high at my scale. I do find this to be way better than the multitude of pick cases, and easy access for the walk by pick session while chasing the kids. If you print one please post a pick and some feedback.
