I have a tenant who wants to add access control to existing doors/locks.
Two of the doors have mortise locks with latches and bolts (they're Schlage L9453, if that makes any difference). The other two have D-series cylinder locks.
I think for the cylinder locks, which are on interior doors, the choices are to swap to electric versions of the same lock, or to install electric strikes. Any other common approaches? A magnet is no good, because we want these to fail secure.
I think we have the same options for the exterior mortise locks—either switch to electrically released mortises, or put in an electric strike, but less obvious is what to do with the deadbolt. Seems like we would lose that no matter what.
