Most of the time I hear people speaking of feedback from the pick itself.
From the pick itself I find the feedback I get is the status of the stack but not whether I an close to opening the lock.
That feedback I find comes from the wrench.
I go top of the key way. Any change in a stack comes to the wrench immediately.
If I use a pick to check, I have to insert the pick and then as I slowly remove it, As I do, I can feel if a stack is set or not.
Picks are also good for checking the condition of a lock. Whether the pins have a lot of play, et cetera.
Picks tell you which stack to work.
But the wrench gives you plenty of subtle clues that the plug is turning.
