Antique Herring Floyd Safe

Thank you. The radiant heater didn't get hot enough to melt the powder.

I wiped off all the powder, wire brushed, cleaned with a degreaser, and gave it a double coat of POR15 - the second coat when the first was almost dry but still tacky. Since the bottom of the safe will never again see the light of day, the POR15 technician said there was no need to top coat the POR15 (POR15 discolores when exposed to UV light). According to the tech, cured POR15 (24-48 hours) is harder than their 2K urethane paint.

Easy to see why old-time safe crackers or yeggs were known to peel safes in order to get into them.
