Star Safe Help

I recently purchased a home that has an in ground star safe model C5. The previous owner did not have a combination and the local lock smith said they would charge close to $500 to drill out and replace locking mechanism. Was wondering if anyone knew of any quick tricks I could try to get the safe open or reset the combination?

If there was a quick trick to open your safe, would you put your money and valuables inside it?

You may try some default combinations to see if the old owner reset the safe before leaving... Are you familiar with dialing open a safe? Otherwise, the first thing you should do is learn how to dial a known combination. Then you could try some default ones and see if your safe opens.

Good luck :)

Call AMSEC and see if they'll tell you the combination the safe was shipped with. People often don't change the default combination. They will make you prove ownership or have a local Amsec trusted locksmith come by your house, get the serial number and then the locksmith who they trust will call them and get the combo on file. If it opens with that combo, it's worth the $50-$100 you'll pay that locksmith for their time and service.
