BEST brand source

Firstly: I'm in Canada.

Does anyone know where BEST brand padlocks can be purchased? eBay doesn't have anything except vintage products, and I haven't been able to find anything else that has reasonable prices.

Cheers!

I'm in Canada, but I get mine from american key supply. I really like Best padlocks, they're a quality item and they don't rust up like some other brands do. I think Zoro sells them as well. Remember with Best stuff you're just getting the padlock, no core. What do you consider a reasonable price? The vintage logo Best padlocks sometimes sell for crazy prices, I swear they're related to Beanie Babies or something.

I'd consider 30-40 CAD reasonable for a padlock without a cylinder, and 20-40 CAD for a core - so somewhere around 50-80 CAD.

American Key Supply seems reasonable, although I don't seem to find a padlock with core/keys included, or any cores with keys separately - only pinless cores?

So a lot of us are collectors or hobby pickers and we are usually happy with 1 or 2 padlocks from a particular brand, are you looking as a collector or do you need like 20 padlocks to secure a facility or something?

Thanks

I think American Key Supply sells combinated cores, but I believe they're GMS cores. Unlike most locks which are disassembled to change the pinning, Best locks are loaded from the top then capped off, so it makes more sense to buy them pinless. Also, there's no way to know what kind of core the end user wants, so purchasing the lock body separately leaves it open to the end user to choose the locking system. If you need to lock up something you buy some new padlocks, get facilities to cut off a piece of chain and put the company/school cores in the locks and you're done. With many non interchangeable locks, you're buying them for a specific task, so it's possible to use them as keyed. If you're going to buy from American Key Supply, try and order it all at one to save on shipping.

Depends on how many you need and if you want them new or not. I have bunch of old style ones I could sell you if you wanted, can even pin up cores and cut keys, not sure what all I have left for extra cores though.

However if you need a lot of them and they all have to be new then you are out of luck. There are currently no Canadian distributors for Best products (according to Stanleys website)

Thanks for that! Their prices seem reasonable, but it does't seem as if there are cores that come pinned/keyed.

Just one, or two if I find a good price.

One or two of the "new" style (not old), in new or good condition - no damage, etc.
