How to dismantle rectangular Chinese (?) padlock

Postby Parabellum » 28 Jan 2018 9:31

I bought a cheap padlock on the flea market that I would like to dismantle to see the internals but I am unable to do so.

I removed the three ball bearings that or for locking and the pin with spring that detains the shackle I also drilled the hole on the bottom to remove the covering plug but I don't see anything there that keeps the core in place but still I can't take it out (with the key inserted and turned).

Does anyone know what keeps it in place?

Unfortunately, we can't see your pictures unless you pay PhotoBucket's extortion fees. Can you upload/link them from elsewhere?

Ups, I didn't know that Photobucket now charges to post on the forum but I managed to do it - there was a shield that needed to by pried before the padlock could be gutted:) By the way, I was surprised to find the core containing the discs is plastic but I think this is what you get for the money paid...
