Mosler TL-15 New purchase

Postby Bill P » 8 Mar 2018 20:36

I have purchased a Mosler TL-15 Safe built in Feb 1989 per the tag. I have not yet moved it. The retailer is going out of business and selling fixtures. They are still using it and will be for a few more weeks. When they close I have 7 days to move it out. I have moved items this heavy before. The Serial Number is 2908104 It measures 27"wide, 25" deep and 58 inches tall. It is setting on some type of 3 3/4 inch tall base that appears to be a factory type of platform. It has a tin type shroud around it and I cannot see what is under it. I realize that photos would be helpful but due to security reasons they will not allow me to take any pictures. So my questions are How much does this unit weigh? I am guessing 2500 lbs. And is anyone familiar with this base that it is setting on? I do not have a model number, Does it have wheels under this shroud? Is it part of the main safe body? If anyone knows it would help me to know what I will need to get under it and move it. I have moved several safes in the past but I could see what I was dealing with in advance. Thanks for your assistance in advance.

5 foot pry bar, a few pieces of 2x4s, and a pallet jack.

Manager will not let me take any photos, After having been there 3 times and buying the unit, they will not allow me to take any photos. Appears it is setting on some sort of Factory base. It sounds like tin, and it looks factory made. Was wondering if anyone was familiar with a mosler accessory safe platform. I was able to look. I only saw a picture of the inside and could not keep it. They are concerned about security while they are still using it. I have moved a few in the past. Have trailer and winch. It is at ground level with no stairs. I checked the route out of the store and took measurements before I agreed to purchase. Wish I had a Johnson bar, hate to buy one just to move one safe. If they decide to let me take a picture I will Thanks for the response

so you bought safe that is still in use and with no way to move it? sounds just like something I would do. cart before the horse =)

They should at least let you push the safe to see if there are wheels under the skirt. as for a base? is the base clearly a seperate piece of metal that the safe sits on top of? I would really have to see it. maybe the day the safe is actually yours you could take a photo, but by then you'll probably be busy pulling and pushing it out of the building.

good luck,

I moved my safe a dozen or more times. I use a pry bar and the door for leverage to get on pipes. I have various sized pipes to roll it on and get over any obstacles, can do this by myself, but easier with someone laying pipes ahead of the direction I want to go. Stairs are usually difficult, but the pipes, 2x8's for ramping and a come-a-long work well, also to get it up my trailer ramp.
