Hi Folks! I have a U-Lock that is currently attached to the top tube of a bicycle. The key was lost. From what I've gathered, it's a Bell Catalyst 200 lock. See video here:
I bought a cheap set of tubular picks and tried what he illustrated...it isn't working. In poking around on this thing, I noticed that one of the pins (the one that's 180 degrees opposite the drive tab) isn't sprung....it just floats up and down with gravity. I tried using the pick as illustrated with the lock barrel pointing downward, but no go. Does anyone know if this floating pin is normal? Is it a defect that's interfering with my ability to open the lock?
As a last resort have what I call my "Universal Lock Opener".....it's a Bosch ~4" Disk Grinder with a composite wheel. Has anyone gone after one of these locks with a 4" composite grinder? How long did it take to cut it (Note, I think I need to cut the shackle in two places) and is it a major hassle? Is it going to be less hassle to seek out somebody with a cutting torch?
Thanks!
-Mike
