So I been messing around with American Locks all keys that I've been wanting too in my collection. So here's my dilemma, I have an 1000 series and a 700 series. I thought they took the same key and have the same keyway. But what I have been finding out is I have a am six American bump key that works in my 1100 series but not the 700 series. So I looked closely more at the keys that came with the locks and my bump key that I bought and Vicky that works in the 700 series says A 1045 key on the working key and the key blank that I bought. Since the am-6 bump key work in my 1100 series I figured that it would work in the 700 series but that is not the case. I'm trying to practice either impressioning or making my own bump key for the 700 series lock I'm going to post some pictures so you could see better what I'm speaking of in the pictures I have the A 1045 keys and below is the AM 6 Bump key. The far left key on the top that is gold works for the 700, the middle ilco A1045 was also a working key for the 700, I just used it to practice making a bump key.(not close done so no laughing). So my question...will the blank A1045 work in the 700 ro impression? Brcause i had to file it(skinner)just to.fit in. Are these all the same keys (A1045, A3)?same amount of Pins in the 700 as the 1100? The origonal Gold key (too left seems significantly longer than the two ilco I have. I hope someone on here understands and can help. Thank you[image][/image]
